When it comes to renowned Hollywood veterans like Brad Pitt, it’s hard to believe that a good-looking and prolific actor like him, never donned a superhero role. Apparently, the actor once came close to appearing in a Marvel superhero movie but ended up losing the opportunity because of scheduling issues.

However, fortunately, the actor did appear in the same MCU project where he was supposed to appear as a superhero. But only this time, it was a brief cameo. Apparently, Brad Pitt was eyed for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2 but instead ended up appearing in a short cameo as Telford Porter aka Vanisher.

Brad Pitt Almost Starred As An MCU Superhero 

There is no denying that MCU has always featured brilliant actors in superhero roles, and strategically utilized the actor’s fame and position in the entertainment industry. Thus, it’s quite surprising to see Marvel Studios leaving out a prolific actor like Brad Pitt. But, to one’s surprise, Pitt was actually eyed for an MCU superhero role.

According to Collider, after Ryan ReynoldsDeadpool made a staggering $783M at the box office, Marvel Studios realized the capability of a sequel to the first installment. That’s when MCU turned Deadpool 2 into a hot commodity and director David Leitch and his team started casting. After filling up the role of Domino, the filmmaker was still looking through actors to fill up the role of Cable.

That’s when Brad Pitt came inches close to featuring in Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 2 as Cable. However, despite being a perfect fit for the role, Pitt failed to make his way to the silver screen as an MCU superhero. According to ComicBook, the actor was facing a scheduling conflict that took away his opportunity.

We had a great meeting with Brad, he was incredibly interested in the property. Things didn’t work out schedule-wise. He’s a fan, and we love him, and I think he would’ve made an amazing Cable.”

Brad Pitt Ended Up With A Cameo In Deadpool 2

After Brad Pitt lost the role of Cable, the opportunity went to Josh Brolin, who did a phenomenal job and certainly brought out the character in the best possible way. But, Marvel Studios wasn’t quite happy with Pitt being out of the role. Certainly, losing an actor of Pitt’s caliber is a grave loss. Thus, MCU offered the Fight Club actor a brief cameo.

After director David Leitch explained how it came down to a scheduling conflict for Brad Pitt that forced him to give up on the MCU opportunity, the actor was later offered the short cameo of Telford Porter aka Vanisher. The actor’s face was visible momentarily before his grisly demise, as his character hit a 500,000-volt electric line.

Audiences were simply shocked by this revelation and were thoroughly impressed by Marvel’s efforts in casting Brad Pitt. MCU’s way of hiding Pitt’s appearance until his character’s death was almost like an Easter egg for the fans. And there’s no issue in saying that the actor’s brief appearance played a significant role in turning the sequel into another highly appreciated film.
