Headcanons are theories and scenarios that have not been proven or seen but are a result of a fan’s theory. Several such headcanons and theories have been discussed on Reddit and other social networking sites ever since the game came out.

One of the Redditors posted a topic that started the discussion by mentioning how Godwyn the Golden, the First Elden Lord and son of Queen Marika the Eternal and Godfrey, has always wielded an Axe. Godfrey and Godwyn’s descendants have also wielded an axe. It was also mentioned that it “might have been the same axe Godrick uses, and he inherited it.

One of the comments mentioned how the axe was forced on Godfrey so he could use his ferocity for a “more noble fighting style” and in turn, Godrick was trying to emulate the same nobility. That being said, Godwyn was described as someone who uses lightning incantations more than anything.

This user had a different perspective about Godfrey’s weapon.

Another headcanon posted by a Redditor involved the living Jars outside Godrick’s arena and this user had one of the best theories about why they’re there. The comment mentioned that they’re there to “collect the corpses of tarnished who are deemed unfit to graft“, as several others agreed and upvoted the comment by more than 1000 Redditors.

This reply to the comment was on the contrary by this user.

There were several other comments about the Erdtrees as well, with one other comment stating the corpses are brought closer to the Erdtree to assist in their “rebirth process”.

Another debate surrounding the game is about the possible release date for the upcoming DLC for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree. No details have been shared by the developers at FromSoftware Inc., as fans continue to wait for a teaser or a trailer ahead of an eventual launch sometime this year.

One of the comments mentioned not knowing just how old the Tarnished are, since “they keep reviving“. A reply to the comment went even further to mention that the early Roundtable members, Gideon, Seluvis, Vargram, and others could well be hundreds of years old.

This was followed by the following headcanon about the Erdtree and the Tarnished.
