Quinn’s Stranger Things co-star and recent BFF, Joe Keery, learned about this casting midway through an interview and texted Quinn to congratulate him.

Joe Keery Texted Joseph Quinn To Congratulate Him In The Middle Of An Interview
For a long time, Joseph Quinn‘s name had been making rounds on social media as a potential casting for The Fantastic Four‘s Johnny Storm. Marvel Studios confirmed his casting along with Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm on February 14. Quinn was very secretive about his talks with the studio, as his friend Joe Keery was pretty surprised when an interviewer broke the news to him.
Joe Keery appeared for an interview with The Movie Dweeb to talk about his new film, Marmalade. The interviewer shared during the interview that his BFF Quinn had officially been cast as Johnny Storm in the MCU. Keery confirmed with the interviewer whether the news was official. The Free Guy actor was so happy for his friend as he shared his first reaction with The Movie Dweeb:
“I think for all Joes, this is a good thing, me included. This is fantastic. That’s great. I got to text him right now. I’m going to text him.”
The interviewer asked Keery whether he knew on the down low that this discussion was happening between Quinn and Marvel Studios. Keery revealed that he didn’t know that it was official and didn’t want to pry and jinx it for him. Keery himself has been building a decent career outside of Stranger Things. He played the main role of Gator Tillman in the fifth season of Fargo. He is also set to star alongside Liam Neeson in David Koepp’s thriller, Cold Storage.
Besides his casting in The Fantastic Four, Quinn is also part of other famous projects like the spin-off to A Quiet Place, titled A Quiet Place: Day One. He is also set to appear as Emperor Caracalla in the sequel to Ridley Scott‘s Oscar-winning film, Gladiator.
Joseph Quinn And Joe Keery Formed A Bond For Life While Filming Stranger Things
In an interview with UNILAD, Joe Keery shared that he and Joseph Quinn became close friends during the filming of Stranger Things Season 4. The filming of this season took place during the pandemic, which made the cast and crew a tight-knit group on set. Quinn’s role was cut short due to his character’s tragic yet heroic death. However, he left a lasting impact on audiences as well as Keery. Joe Keery told UNILAD:
“We spent a lot of time together, obviously, when we were shooting — and especially because it was during the pandemic, for the most part. So that’s a bond that will be there for life, for sure.”
Quinn’s Eddie Munson is a high-school outcast in the series, who is the leader of the Dungeons and Dragons club at Hawkins High School. Munson sacrifices himself to Vecna’s demons in the parallel Upside Down dimension to save his friends. Joe Keery shared that he was bummed about the character’s death in the series. Keery shared:
“I don’t really remember what my reaction was. I was bummed though. It was probably just because I enjoy spending time with Joe, and he’s a good presence to be around.”
Joe Keery will return in his role as Steve in the upcoming fifth and final season of Stranger Things. The production for the season began on January 8th, and the series finale is expected to hit Netflix by 2025.
