Best known for his appearance as Jim Halpert in The Office, when John Krasinski switched gears to appear in an action-packed movie in 2016, he required intense training for his role. However, feeling overwhelmed with the routine of working out for 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, Krasinski allowed himself to devour without limit, for one last time.

Celebrating New Year’s Day 2015 during a vacation in Mexico, with his wife Emily Blunt and some friends, Krasinski indulged in 50 quesadillas, a day before his training started. Letting himself have the bite of his life, the actor ended up filling himself with a bizarre amount of quesadillas. Reflecting upon his unnatural gorging, the actor explained what happened to Men’s Health (via People)

There was a create-your-own quesadilla thing, and this guy just kept making us quesadillas. I thought, ‘This is it. This is my last night of freedom.’ So I went for it. I thought, ‘Oh, it’ll all turn into muscle.’ That’s where I didn’t really understand the science.”

Eventually, eating 50 quesadillas, without proper training knowledge, landed John Krasinski in a grave situation. When he returned from Mexico and started his training for 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, the actor realized his mistake, and thus went through a painful transformation that he wasn’t ready for.

When John Krasinski returned from Mexico after his vacation, he had 26 percent body fat, which was to be reduced to 5 percent for his shirtless scenes. But luckily, the actor had a professional trainer Jason Walsh, to whip him into shape. And indeed, the duo worked together on burning fat while adding muscle.
