Jim Carrey is Not Returning in a Grinch Sequel

“There is no truth to Jim reprising his role as the Grinch in a sequel to The Grinch,” the representative told the outlet. While the Bruce Almighty star has been quite open about his despise of sequels, he has also expressed his hatred towards starring in the 2000 film due to the make-up and prosthetics he had to put on for the role.
Why Did Jim Carrey Despise Playing the Grinch?
Jim Carrey’s performance in the 2000 film has been celebrated and appreciated by many. However, the actor has candidly expressed his dislike for the role primarily due to the extensive makeup and prosthetics he had to put on to play the role.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, he shared that it took approximately eight and a half hours to get ready for filming on his first day, and it felt “like being buried alive every day.” Feeling overwhelmed, he told the director, Ron Howard, that he couldn’t continue in such a situation.
However, the makers were not ready to let go of the movie star and hired a CIA operative to train Carrey to endure torture. They advised him to do different activities to endure the prolonged hours, which included eating whatever he could, changing channels or songs, and smoking.

The discomfort constraints to his look in the movie and the demanding nature of the role contributed to his dislikeness of playing the character, despite being appreciated by many fans as a holiday classic. Fans of the actor also said that same while reacting to the news of him not returning in a potential sequel.
Jim Carrey Fans Are Not Surprise With the News
As the news broke out, fans of the Hollywood star took to Twitter to share their opinion about Jim Carrey not reprising his role as Grinch. Fans stated that the news is not a “revelation,” as the actor openly stated his hatred for playing the character.
He’s mentioned countless times before how much he hated the makeup/prosthetic process so this isn’t a revelation.

We
Don’t
Want
A
Sequel
Besides, Jim had to have counseling from a CIA agent about resisting torture so he could wear the Grinch suit

Others also stated how the actor had to undergo CIA operatives training for filming the movie and most of the fans did not seem surprised that the rumor turned out to be false.
