A recent post on X (formerly Twitter) shows the quick and seamless transition which looks much better and faster than fast-travel found in the earlier titles.

Fast travel has been one of the most used features in the Spider-Man franchise. As the map of the upcoming sequel is said to be twice the size compared to the first title, it’s a given that this will be used a lot more again. More posts have started to appear online showing the despicable smoothness and quick transitions between the two characters in the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will also see the two web-swingers fighting together but mostly working on their respective missions as well. This is where switching between the two superheroes in the game will be a crucial factor in terms of having a seamless experience. From what has been shown so far from gameplay videos, the character switch between the two superheroes in the game looks insanely faster.

Earlier this year, Creative Director for the game, Bryan Intihar had shed light on how switching between the two protagonists in the game will work out. Intihar revealed that a lot of the seamless process was made possible all thanks to the power of PlayStation 5.

Character Switching Will Tie-In With Shared and Unshared Skill Tree Perks

Players will need the abilities of both the web-swingers to complete missions.

With both Spider-Men featuring their own unique Symbiote and Venom abilities, Intihar mentioned the gameplay would be defined by how players make use of the upgrades available to both the protagonists in the game. Hence, deciding which of the two Spider-Men will take on the activity in hand, and switching between them would be an awesome feature to have in the game.

More gameplay details reveal players playing as one of the protagonists will see the other swinging around at times, and players will get an option to call on them for assistance in an ongoing mission. It will also be possible to switch between the two characters in between missions to make the most of each other’s abilities.

The skill tree this time is said to feature separately for both Spider-Men with an additional skill tree that is shared between the two that will require leveling up both heroes to upgrade a certain skill. Upgrading the shared skill will allow the two heroes to assist each other in between missions, and quickly jump into the other character as well after the maneuver.

Fast-traveling between two ends of the massive map in the game looks ever so smooth, however, as more fans have pointed out, it’s swinging around the map that fans will relish a lot more.

Others have pointed out that the seamless experience must be used as much as possible, and that the total time taken to quickly jump to a completely different section of the map is just over a second. Reviewers are all praise for the PlayStation 5’s performance which has helped in bringing this immersive experience to the game.

Apart from this, the ray-tracing capabilities of the console have also been praised as Digital Foundry has called Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to be having the “Best ray tracing” seen on consoles. Insomniac seems to have managed to bring the best RT visual experience at a constant 60fps.
