Thor 5 Replaces Taika Waititi With Gareth Edwards As Its Director

There’s no doubt that Taika Waititi has made the Thor franchise more popular, as his work in Thor: Ragnarok has been regarded as one of the best Marvel films of all time as it was not only full of action but also featured several jokes that helped in lighten the mood. However, he could not balance it out in Thor: Love and Thunder as the film could not balance the seriousness of the plot and the jokes it featured, making it more like a satire.

As a result of his failure to make the sequel a success, and the harsh criticism it faced by the MCU fans and critics, rumors started to circulate about how Marvel has decided to replace the 48-year-old director. Recently, a scooper went to Twitter to give updates on Thor 5, stating that the sequel will have a darker tone and Taika Waititi will not be its director.

The news of Gareth Edwards replacing the director is not at all shocking, as Thor’s last solo appearance was less than stellar. Though the film managed to be successful, Marvel Studios has set their eyes on the End Day director has the ability to give Chris Hemsworth’s character a new life. Since the upcoming sequel is expected to have a darker theme, Edwards is the best candidate to execute this task as he has the idea to narrate a darker story.

Why is Gareth Edwards The Right Man to Direct Thor 5?

As it has been stated before, Thor 5 is going to have a much darker tone, something that has not been shown before in the franchise’s history. As a result, Marvel believes that Gareth Edwards is the right man for the job, as he has done more serious work than Taika Waititi, who would make the film entertaining with his light, humor-infused style.

Moreover, Gareth Edwards is believed to be the right candidate for this job, as his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was gripping and had the tone that Marvel Studios is trying to showcase in the franchise. Moreover, Edwards has more experience with writing and visual effects in these genres which might give him the advantage in bringing a more serious and thematically appropriate look and feel to a Thor sequel.
