Darksiders fans are extremely happy as a teaser trailer for a new game has been revealed. PlayStation Blog shared more details, revealing a brief but exciting glimpse into the upcoming title.
The teaser, set in a fiery chamber shows three massive stone heads bursting into flames. This marks the awakening of the Charred Council, who roar the word “Horseman” in unison.
The Next Darksiders Game Includes the Charred Council
The trailer, revealed via publisher THQ Nordic, doesn’t reveal which of the Four Horsemen will be the protagonist, nor does it include any dialogue. However, the appearance of the Charred Council will be familiar to long-time fans of the series.
The Charred Council plays a significant role in the lore. This trio is responsible for maintaining the balance in the cosmos, ensuring that no single entity becomes way too powerful.
Fans of the franchise will recognize them as key figures who interact with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Each game in the series has featured one of these Horsemen so far.
The original Darksiders, released in 2010, starred War, while its 2012 sequel focused on Death. In 2018, players took on the role of Fury in Darksiders III, and Darksiders Genesis, a spin-off released in 2019, allowed players to control Strife. Who’s next?
The new teaser reignites speculation about the direction the series will take. Will it continue the story from previous games or introduce a new narrative? The franchise is known for its rich lore and intense action, so fans have high expectations set accordingly.

A Showcase Full of Surprises
The reveal of the new game was just one of several highlights and reveals of the THQ Nordic Digital Showcase. The event also featured announcements for several other exciting titles, including a Gothic remake, Titan Quest 2, Wreckfest 2, and Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.
Each of these reveals brought its own excitement for its fanbase, but the Darksiders teaser stood out, being the biggest reveal of them all.
Despite the closure of the original developer, Vigil Games, over a decade ago, the series has lived on thanks to its former employees. Gunfire Games and Airship Syndicate, which were both founded by ex-Vigil staff, have continued to develop new entries in the franchise.

It’s still unclear whether this new title will be a direct sequel to the last game or instead a fresh take. The series has a history of introducing new elements and characters with each game, sometimes leaving things incomplete, so anything is possible.
In the meantime, the teaser trailer has done its job very well, building anticipation and and reigniting the series and the fanbase. As more information is revealed, speculation about which Horseman will take center stage and how the story will unfold will probably continue.
