Patricia Richardson Shuts Down Tim Allen’s Home Improvement Reunion Plans

However, during a recent appearance on the Back To The Best podcast, Richardson revealed that she had not been contacted for the alleged revival. As a result, Richardson was confused about the comments the Santa Clause actor made publicly about bringing back the sitcom. She said:

“It was so weird, I would hear he was coming out publicly and saying this stuff about everyone was on board to do a Home Improvement reunion.”

Richardson added that she spoke with former co-star Jonathan Taylor Thomas, who was also seemingly out of the loop with Allen’s revival plans.

“So why is he saying everyone is on board when he hasn’t talked to you or me?”

Richardson made the above statement expressing her confusion over Allen’s claims that the rest of the cast members were on board with the idea of reviving the hit sitcom. Richardson’s comments come after Allen revealed he had discussed spin-off ideas with co-stars Richard Karn, Zachery Ty Bryan, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Taran Noah Smith.

During the podcast, Richardson revealed that while she had not been contacted to reprise her role for the proposed reunion/revival of Home Improvement, she also had no interest in returning. At the same time, Richardson stated that she did not think a revival would work.

“I mean, Zach is now a felon. Taran Noah Smith hasn’t acted since he left the show; he’s not an actor anymore. And Jonathan’s not really interested in acting. He wants to direct and write. And we don’t have Wilson.”

Richardson made the above statement referencing the legal issues of Zachery Ty Bryan and the passing of Wilson actor Earl Hindman’s death as the primary hurdles in reviving the iconic sitcom that went off the air in 1999. Therefore, Richardson seems adamant that a revival of Home Improvement won’t be happening despite Allen’s comments.

Home Improvement is streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
