Everything that the film had to offer during it’s run time was appreciated by the audience to an almost unprecedented degree since each scene was so exceptionally well-executed. And of course, just like with any other film, there were many scenes that didn’t make the final cut.

But in the past, Phillips revealed that there were more than what people expected, which they can also expect to never see with their eyes anytime soon.

In the wider view of the world, superhero films are often considered to be made for commercial success and less for a critical one, a belief that has been proven wrong several times in the past. And when the DCEU struggled, filmmaker Todd Phillips proved that a critically outstanding film wasn’t just possible for the franchise, but also necessary through the creation of Joker.

While the film was perfect in its final form, the question of how many deleted scenes exists of the film was a question asked by the most die-hard fans of comic book films and the titular character, played by Oscar-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix. Speaking about this with ColliderThe Hangover  director claimed that there were indeed a lot of scenes that were cut from the final product.

But as far as fans getting a chance to watch them, they were closer to zero if not non-existent. Phillips said that the reason those deleted scenes will never make it to the public eye like DVD and Blu-Ray releases do because the film he made is what he wanted to show the world and nothing more. He said:

“No, there’s plenty of deleted scenes, yeah, but they’re not going to be on the DVD. I don’t do deleted scenes. Deleted scenes are deleted for a reason. I have a thing against extended cuts and I kind of hate deleted scenes.  The movie that exists is exactly the movie we want it to be— I feel like all that adding deleted scenes do is confuse it.”

While it’s a bit of letdown that some scenes that were in the filmmaker’s vision will not be witnessed by the public, people can look forward to the next chapter of the story of Arthur Fleck in the second film.
