With six successful movies under one franchise, Mission: Impossible has been consistent in its game since day 1. The 7th instalment is one of the most anticipated movies of Hollywood, but internal and external issues kept pushing the dates. Despite the incredible response for Mission: Impossible- Fallout, its sequel suffered back to back delays, especially amidst the pandemic. Following the release dates of July 23, 2021, November 19, 2022, and May 27, 2022, Mission: Impossible 7 has yet again pushed it to September 30, 2022.
Postponing the dates couldn’t have flickered the excitement flame because of its steady past performance and constant critical and commercial success. The star and backbone of the franchise, Tom Cruise will reprise his role as the IMF spy, Ethan Hunt. We’ll get to see a lot of familiar faces, from Henry Czerny, to Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Ving Rhames, and Frederick Schmidt returning in their characters. Other actors to join the cast are Hayley Atwell, Indira Varma Cary Elwes, and Mark Gatiss.
The producers have managed to keep the plot under wraps, so not much is known about it except for Tom Cruise’ ‘most dangerous stunt’. Apart from Ethan Hunt defying gravity, fans speculate a new arc considering Esai Morales’ unknown villain character.
Why The Delays
It had to battle back to back COVID related issues after the crew reported several Positive cases. Apart from the delays caused by the Pandemic, the film had its own set of troubles. It got involved in endless controversies. These were sparked by the filmmakers’ alleged plan to explode a bridge in Poland and other legal battles with the insurance provider.
We hope that Ethan Hunt’s next adventure finally hits the theatres on September 30, 2022. It will be available on the streaming platform, Paramount+ after 45 days of the theatrical release.
