Tom Cruise Sells His Race Car For A Whopping Amount
It may surprise many that Tom Cruise once competed in SCCA competitions during the 1980s, thanks to his The Color of Money co-star Paul Newman.
The Nissan 300ZX, adorned with the Canon/Planters livery of Newman-Sharp Racing used for the competition, was none other than Tom Cruise’s own vehicle. The car has been meticulously restored to its original state despite being unused for years, rusting away in a scrapyard during the 1990s and early 2000s. Last year, it was put up for auction on the US-based site Bring A Trailer and sold for a whopping $102,200.

It is not a basic Z31-generation Nissan 300ZX. Under the hood lies a 3.0-liter V6 engine with Jim Wolf Technologies camshafts, MSA headers, and throttle body, and an HKS exhaust system. Additionally, the car comes packed with Nismo anti-roll bars, Tokico springs and shocks, and sporty bucket seats in the interior. Interestingly, the odometer shows a mere 5,000 miles, with only 800 of those being accrued after its extensive restoration.
