It is still a long way off from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4, but fans are quite excited to know which other Marvel heroes will be appearing in the upcoming movie. Charlie Cox is reportedly joining the franchise with a very significant role, but another Avenger is also rumored to team up with them.
It’s been a hot minute since the last outing of Spider-Man, and it is one of the most popular franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to feature numerous characters from other stories. It seems like Sony is eyeing another fan-favorite to serve as Peter Parker’s new mentor.
Marvel And Sony Reportedly Want Daredevil And Ant-Man In Spider-Man 4
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are currently eyeing Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man to join Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4. The scooper noted that Cox will have a “sizeable role” while Rudd’s part is still being discussed.
Daredevil has already met Peter Parker during his cameo appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Ant-Man also went toe-to-toe against him over the Sokovia Accords in Captain America: Civil War, so there should not be any more surprise if both of them suddenly popped up on the big screen.
There are scarce details about the cast and the storyline of the upcoming Spider-Man 4 film, though rumors suggest that it will deal with the aftermath of the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. As both Daredevil and Spider-Man consider New York their hometown, it only makes sense that Sony and Marvel Studios give them a chance to formally become allies in the MCU.
In fact, Kingpin star Vincent D’Onofrio previously teased that only when Daredevil and Spider-Man team up could they defeat the villain. He said via Jake’s Takes that “it would have to be either Daredevil or Spider-Man” who can kill Kingpin, but later added, “together, the two of them together, maybe.”
As Ant-Man’s possible cameo in Spider-Man 4 remains the subject of a meeting between Sony and Marvel, fans are already expressing their enthusiasm over Daredevil’s involvement in the movie.
Will Tom Holland Return In Spider-Man 4?
Tom Holland previously took a break from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to pursue other projects outside of the superhero realm, but he also kept his door ajar at the possibility of reprising his role as Spider-Man. The actor spoke with GQ and admitted he had talks with the studio about returning for a fourth movie.
“All I can say is that we have been actively engaging in conversations about what it could potentially look like for a fourth rendition of my character. Whether or not we can find a way to do justice to the character is another thing. I feel very protective over Spider-Man.”
Holland also said that he won’t make another Spider-Man film if it’s just for fortune or fame, but only when the studio writes a meaningful story of the character that is worth telling on the big screen.
“I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.”
Spider-Man 4 has no release date yet, but Daniel Richtman previously reported that Sony and Marvel are eyeing to start production in late 2024. The scooper also revealed that Jon Watts is attached to the project as director.
As per Sony boss Tom Rothman, they are planning to bring back the whole gang, so fans can assume that beloved cast members Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will reprise their respective roles. With the introduction of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the MCU, their possible return is also highly anticipated.
