While superhero cinematic universes are all the rage in the world of cinema in this day and age, it has been nothing more than an outlet for Marvel Studios to flex their critical and financial muscles with a behemoth monopoly over the genre. But James Gunn and his co-CEO Peter Safran are all set to take the MCU head-on with their upcoming DC Films’ very own cinematic universe.

And thus, as this change has been in the works for many months now, the future of the upcoming DCU is taking shape, all thanks to the efforts of the new management at Warner Bros. Discovery. Along with many new and exciting characters and storylines set to be brought to the big screen, James Gunn has recently also revealed his plans to bring the lesser-known character of DC Comics in one of his upcoming films.

With the new dawn of DC films coming up as the old reign of the DCEU is set to end with the upcoming The Flash, new CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are starting to give shape to the vision they have for their heroes and villains of DC Comics. In the process, while Gunn may have decided to start with a clean slate and fired beloved stars from their roles as superheroes, he has promised the fans that his new take on these superheroes will be something that will exceed their expectations, and it seems like he’s taken the first steps.

Taking to the realm of Twitter, the Brightburn director was recently seen posting a set of images from the pages of DC Comics. Upon further inspection, it was revealed that all of these characters were villains that had crossed paths with the Man Of Steel before in the lore. Along with this, he has also written a cryptic message that has stirred up fans’ imaginations, which has led to some mad theories and assumptions popping up.

With villains such as Parasite, Silver Banshee, Blaze, and Ultra-Humanite that are present in the post, one thing that the director has made clear is the fact that he will be taking an unconventional approach and either bringing one of these underrated characters, or all of them, in the upcoming Superman: Legacy that he’ll be personally directing and overseeing in the future.

With the end of the DCEU closer than ever, James Gunn and Peter Safran are kicking into overdrive to make the future of their newly-forming DCU as successful as possible. To satiate the curiosity and hunger of the fans, the Guardians of The Galaxy director has already revealed their first ten-year plan, which is titled ‘Gods and Monsters’, which details all which the world can expect from them, including Superman: Legacy.
