Betting Curse: Drake’s Streak of Lost Bets

Known for his record-breaking music albums and multiple Grammy wins, Drake made a mad reputation for picking up a quite staggering betting habit. According to reports from DailyMail, Drake even made headlines for betting on Formula One. But what made notorious reports was his reputation of bringing bad luck to those whom he backs. As per reports, although the rapper had won quite some bets, he was majorly known for losing his money, which also meant a loss for the team he had bet his money on.

Previously, the rapper made headlines for his audacious $400,000 stake on Jake Paul. Unfortunately, Brit Fury defeated Paul via a split decision, which led to Drake losing his money. Before that event, the rapper lost $275,000 after betting it on Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington at UFC 272 in Las Vegas. The rapper’s misery continued further after he lost $427,000 when he backed Justin Gaethje to beat Charles Oliveira at UFC 274.

The Grammy winner has also lost $450,350 for incorrectly predicting the New York Rangers to win the NHL Eastern Conference Finals. He also tried his luck with F1, placing $275,000 on Ferrari’s Charles LeClerc to win the Spanish Grand Prix in 2022. Unfortunately, LeClerc lost to two-time champion Max Verstappen. After losing several staggering bets, people started believing in Drake’s betting curse, which not only made the rapper lose his money but also brought bad luck to the one he backed.

Fortunately, once in a while, Drake did win his money back, but since it was a rare event, people majorly believed in his betting curse. Right after he bet on the team, fans were concerned about the Kansas City Chiefs’ win, especially due to Drake’s curse. But since the rapper was scared of betting against Taylor Swift, he placed his money on the pop star’s partner Travis Kelce’s team. Fortunately, this time, Swift and Kelce’s mutual luck eventually paid off the rapper and broke his streak of bad luck.

According to Bleacher Report, Drake had put down a $1.15M bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to defeat the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 58. The only logic behind why he bet on Travis Kelce’s team was because “I can’t bet against the Swifties,” as noted by the rapper via his Instagram account. But eventually, for whatever reason he bet on the Chiefs, the rapper made a whopping $2.3M following its win.
