The co-creator of the Marvel comic character recently announced his retirement from the Merc with the Mouth. The American comic artist, who created Deadpool, also created characters like Cable, Domino, and Stryfe, for Marvel. And after more than three decades in the business, has decided to give his stencils a rest.

Rob Liefeld Announced Retirement From Deadpool

In a recent Twitter post, American comic artist and writer Rob Liefeld, announced his retirement from Deadpool, a character he created along with Fabian Nicieza. The Deadpool co-creator said that after 33 years since bringing Deadpool to life, he is ready to say his farewell to the character.

On X, he wrote,

“I am retiring from Deadpool. It’s official. Yup, after 33 years of not only introducing Deadpool but chronicling many of his most popular adventures it’s time for the Deadpool Daddy to say farewell. One of the fun parts about getting older is you can retire from things, so here I am.”

But he is not ready to say goodbye just yet. Before saying his final goodbye, Liefeld has prepared a final farewell gift for the fans that will come out in the summer of 2024. He said he “worked up one last crazy Deadpool yarn for the fine folks at Marvel,” to which “they responded with electric glee.

Rob Liefeld said that creating the Deadpool Corps. and all the different variants of Deadpool were a lot of fun. And now he is bringing the character’s story to a conclusion with his one last ride.

“I’ll finish this one last Deadpool story, and trust me, it’s a wild one, and call it a collaboration for the ages. It’ll be fun!”
