But recently, the original film’s director Catherine Hardwicke looked back at her film and gave rise to the franchise, and when thinking about who could play the roles of Edward and Bella today, she came up with the names of Jacob Elordi and Jenna Ortega.
Jacob Elordi And Jenna Ortega Are The Original Director’s Picks For The Main Twilight Cast Today
It’s often hard for fans of a certain franchise or series to imagine people other than the original cast as their beloved characters. But when you are a filmmaker, you have to keep a broad vision for what can be the next big thing. Thus, when people talk about The Twilight Saga, Jacob, Edward, and Bella are rarely talked about in terms of being replaced.
But the director of the first Twilight Catherine Hardwicke sees that today, the shoes of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart can be filled by new stars in the industry.

In a recent interview on an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Red Riding Hood director was asked by host Josh Horowitz who according to her could play the role of the main couple from the series if the franchise was to be rebooted today. Hardwicke was quick to reply with Jacob Elordi being the perfect fit for Edward Cullen today when Horowitz suggested her names.
While for Stewart, she revealed that Jenna Ortega would be her first pick for the role of Bella Swan. She said:
“Oh yeah, that would be perfect, I mean, he’s amazing. He probably would be Edward today. Exactly,”
While the stars may be her picks for the iconic characters if the franchise was to be rebooted for the big screen, but fans don’t see eye to eye with her on this.
