But the director of the first Twilight Catherine Hardwicke sees that today, the shoes of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart can be filled by new stars in the industry.

In a recent interview on an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Red Riding Hood director was asked by host Josh Horowitz who according to her could play the role of the main couple from the series if the franchise was to be rebooted today. Hardwicke was quick to reply with Jacob Elordi being the perfect fit for Edward Cullen today when Horowitz suggested her names.

While for Stewart, she revealed that Jenna Ortega would be her first pick for the role of Bella Swan. She said:

“Oh yeah, that would be perfect, I mean, he’s amazing. He probably would be Edward today. Exactly,”

While the stars may be her picks for the iconic characters if the franchise was to be rebooted for the big screen, but fans don’t see eye to eye with her on this.
