Ubisoft has been a massive powerhouse in the gaming industry for a long time. But lately, they seem to be slipping off. The developer’s much-hyped pirate adventure game Skull and Bones has fallen flat at the release.

However, it is to be remembered that the game quickly became the top-streamed game on Twitch during the time of its Open Beta phase. And with over 1.9 million views on the announcement post, the game already has a massive fan following. But apart from massive expectations from the fans, the shooter title is also going to be responsible for steadying the ship at the company.

The studio has suffered multiple back-to-back losses as big-budget titles like Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, Far Cry 6, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, etc. failed to make any significant impact among fans. The game is already behind schedule as it was supposed to be released in the summer of 2023. However, the Server Test Session announcement means that the game is still away.

This has led to some frustration regarding the terrible track record of Ubisoft taking a lot of time to produce games that aren’t up to the mark, the biggest example of it being Skull and Bones. But, the game had some good ideas as they had removed skill-based match-making from unranked play.

The Wait for XDefiant Still Continues

The game has been delayed multiple times.

Quite a few fans could not comprehend what is taking the developers so long. There have been calls in the comment section for a definitive release date instead of announcements like these.

The frustration is quite understandable as it has been almost a year since fans got to play the game and it still does not have a release date. The worst part is that the initial reaction to the game had Forbes label it as a potential competitor to COD.

Although a year late, the game is still riding on a lot of expectations due to a stellar performance in the Open Beta phase.

Featuring characters from Splinter Cell‘s Echelon, Phantoms from Ghost Recon, Cleaners from The Division, Libertad from Far Cry 6, and DedSec from Watch Dogs, the game is an ambitious project for the developer.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
