Ubisoft has a very weird way to manage certain game projects; for example, Skull and Bones had more than 10 years in development and launched one month ago with several delays.

The company has also announced a Call of Duty-like game, XDefiant, which was first revealed in 2021, and since then, with just one beta of the game, there has been no more news about it. This beta was released 268 days ago, and Ubisoft has not talked about this game since then, and there seems to be no rush to launch the title.

Ubisoft and another Call of Duty clone that has no update whatsoever; where is XDefiant?

The track record of Ubisoft is not good at all; some projects that the multibillion-dollar company has announced have had various delays and not even one new update. Between the projects in development hell, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and XDefiant, the last one at least had a closed beta. But after this beta that was released 268 days ago, Ubisoft hasn’t shared any new updates about the current state of this free-to-play first-person shooter that is part of Tom Clancy’s universe.

This was first noticed by the popular X insider Modern Warzone, who shared these details in an X post, remarking that Ubisoft has not shared any news about the game. XDefiant has a mix of many genres; the main one is first-person shooter, but it also has a bit of MOBA, like Overwatch with Ultimate Abilities; there are classes for every character.

But the most distinct ones are the similarities with Call of Duty. This tittle could be coming too late for fighting other free-to-play games like Warzone

XDefiant had a very interesting kind of gameplay, with factions and classes. The game aims to help you make a balanced team for the urban battle that you will have. Every class will have its own abilities and ultimate abilities that can balance the battlefield or give you the edge to win the match, but this is nothing that you have already seen before. Ubisoft has not given any updates about the current state of the game; this could be a future cancelled game for the studio.

Assassin’s Creed is the main responsibility that Ubisoft has currently. The new AC Red project will launch this year and could be one of the best in years, according to Ubisoft. The latest entries in the franchise have not really impressed the players or the critics; some even said that they have very little of an Assassin’s Creed game.

What are your thoughts about XDefiant? Do you think the game will be released?

I'm a big fan of movies and videogames in general. I really love Pokémon and Godzilla. One of my favorite games is The Last of Us, Part II. A compelling and well-written story is always welcome.
