In the galaxy far, far away, there are millions of stories and characters that appear to be larger than life. Between the First Order fighting for newfound laws and the Rebel Alliance moving against them, certain stories remain untold. Ubisoft’s Star Wars Outlaws is taking an opportunity to decipher this, and diving into the underworld.
The latest trailer showcases Kay Vess, a young, charismatic outlaw who is accompanied by her little companion Nix, who is out on an important mission. Well, at least in the eyes of some of the most dangerous criminals under the nose of the Empire.
Star Wars Outlaws Seems Pretty Huge by Comparison to Older Games
The trailer doesn’t show it all at once. It slowly unravels itself to bring the attention of the viewer to the most important thing; the workings of the underworld and how a criminal empire has been established in a relatively new tone.
The gorgeous Outer Rim isn’t revealed to us until the end, and we’re given a brief look at how the world is in Star Wars Outlaws. Even with the limited information and visuals, the game’s world seems massive compared to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, even though the ‘open zones‘ were quite big in the game.
There’s also a big focus on vehicular traversal, as well as mixed kinds of combat. Then again, the usual ‘Ubisoft skepticism’ is pretty vibrant in the comments, and fans still seem a little hesitant about pre-ordering the game.
Kay Vess and Nix Are Ready to Take the Underworld by Storm
Throughout the trailer, it’s clear that this isn’t Vess and Nix’s first rodeo. However, it does feel like they’re fighting for their freedom, and Vess will stop at nothing to get it. Viewers are also introduced to Jaba the Hutt, one of the most infamous personalities in the Star Wars saga.
There are also multiple criminal organizations in the mix, each of them looking equally threatening, providing the possibilities for endless side-quests and smaller stories. It’s Ubisoft we’re talking about, after all.
There’s a key takeaway here, as far as the story is concerned. While the air is full of suggestive betrayals and possible cameos, there are hidden secrets about the Outer Rim that we’re yet to explore. We’ve yet to see a gameplay deep-dive that connects all of the story to certain game mechanics.
