The sensationalism of the Fast & Furious franchise does not end with the grand car heists and the (quite literally) out-of-the-world adventures. With time, the Vin Diesel-helmed franchise has also familiarized itself with scandals, especially with fellow cast mate, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with whom the situation was almost as irreparable as the relationship between oil and water. But, it seems as though it was not that difficult after all for the two stars to put their differences aside and step back into the frame together.

The Rock Left Stranded After Falling Out With the Fast Cast

It has been a rocky year or two and The Rock has been on a bumpy ride the whole time. What was originally considered the phenomenon of the decade with Henry Cavill‘s return in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam DC feature was soon made invalid and redundant by David Zaslav and James Gunn. The later claims about Johnson’s overarching ambition and momentary glory by forcing Cavill’s cameo into his film’s post-credits laid waste to his reputation among the franchise’s masses even before it could gain major momentum.

However, elsewhere The Rock’s reputation with the Fast & Furious family kept deteriorating past the point of no return during and after the production of The Fate of the Furious. What was considered a simple disagreement between him and the cast turned out to be a full-fledged bloody war of words that cut across all media and tabloids in the ugliest celebrity feud yet. While his feud with franchise headliner Vin Diesel has been widely documented, the falling out between The Rock and Tyrese Gibson was somewhat overshadowed by the media coverage of the former.

As the legend goes, The Rock’s exit from the mainstream franchise and his spin-off saga with fellow action star Jason Statham put off Tyrese Gibson who publicly called the Red Notice star out on his “selfishness” and how his decision could delay the production of F9. In the aftermath, The Rock lashed out against Gibson, criticizing his album and calling it “dog sh*t.” However, throughout it all, the former’s constant companion, Statham refused to step in on behalf of his Hobbs & Shaw co-star claiming, I have nothing to do with it and I don’t want any part of it.”

The Rock Gets Back Into Good Terms With the Fast Family

The Rock recently put the fandom at ease by not having to choose a side anymore by returning to the franchise as DSS Luke Hobbs in a wildly unexpected mid-credits scene in Fast X. The reunion comes in light of the franchise coming to an end with the eleventh ride of Fast & Furious its final installment. Although Louis Leterrier, the director of Fast X is to be credited with the magnificent and impossible return of The Rock and his willingness to star on the same screen as Vin Diesel, it is difficult to imagine the same happening after the colorful words Johnson threw at Diesel after the latter brought up Paul Walker and their family in his social media post urging Johnson to return.

In Tyrese Gibson’s case, however, the situation was much simpler. In 2020, the pair patched up under undisclosed circumstances with Gibson confirming to Josh Horowitz about their reunion stating, “Me and The Rock peaced up.” The Jumanji star also extended his love and support to his former co-star after his mother passed away in 2022.
