Sometimes the internet can be a pretty harsh place to be in, and the people at Sweet Baby Inc. found it out the hard way with multiple online entities coming out against their work. The video game narrative consultation agency found itself in dire straits after a callout against them led the remnant tensions from the GamerGate scandal to wash over them.

But, when all looked bleak, the Narrative Director of Insomniac’s Marvel Wolverine Mary Kenny came out all guns blazing in defense of Sweet Baby Inc. branding them “one of the finest in the biz“. She shared a series of replies to her original post on X outlining why she believes that the narrative consultation agency is being wrongfully targeted.

The time is not going well for Sweet Baby Inc. as they find themselves in the crosshairs yet again. Previously, fans unhappy with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League had targeted the consultation agency for tampering with the Arkhamverse storyline.

But Mary Kenny set the records straight with her post where she called out people for not knowing how narrative consultancy works.

In a series of comments under this post, she outlines exactly why she is throwing her support behind the agency. However, the internet was not convinced easily as some shades were thrown.

John A. Douglas, the author of The Black Crown, seemed particularly exasperated as he suggested that Mary should get out of making video games and take Sweet Baby Inc. with her. Marvel Wolverine‘s narrative director coolly handled the situation that video games were not just her hobby but also her academic discipline and full-time job.

Another user took a swipe at her stating that the games that Sweet Baby Inc. has been involved with are the worst games of the last few years. Replying to this, Mary spoke about Spider-Man 2 and God of War: Ragnarok. Both of these games have done significantly well in the box office with Spider-Man 2 boasting a 91 score on Metacritic. The director of Alan Wake II had also previously come out in support of the agency.

Despite the ‘Expert Analysis’ Gamers Beg To Differ

Despite her best efforts, it seems that Mary Kenny has failed to deliver a telling verdict in favor of Sweet Baby Inc. Despite her full support and explanation regarding the kind of work the agency does along with showering them with praise, gamers and fans seem bent on hating on the agency. And they have their reasons for doing so.

Even the games that she chose to exhibit as examples of good work on the part of Sweet Baby Inc. were shredded apart by fans with surprising accuracy. The agency was so bad at their ‘consultancy’ that they have been part of a dozen games that have bombed, some of which had ended the careers of studio teams. But, some people seem to find the notion ridiculous, as Mary Kenny suggested.

Whether Sweet Baby Inc. can bounce back successfully and win back fans’ hearts remains to be seen. However, if things now are to go by, times look bleak for the agency.

I travel. I game. I write. In no strict order.

The single biggest lie told all around is, "It isn't that simple." It is simple, everything is. And that is what I emulate in my writing. No unnecessary jargons and no flamboyant flourish. Just what's needed to get your imagination going. After all mind has no limit, unlike the written word.
