Marvel Studios dropped the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer during the Super Bowl and underlined – with a title change – that Hugh Jackman’s character is going to play a pivotal role in the third installment of the Deadpool franchise.
The trailer suggests Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson goes on a mission after crossing paths with the Time Variance Authority. During this journey, Deadpool asks for a helping hand from Wolverine. Interestingly, the two-minute 25-second clip didn’t reveal the proper look of the character, teasing fans by just showing his claws.
Accordingly, this has given fans the freedom to run their imagination wild. In that regard, one fan art has imagined Henry Cavill as Wolverine.
Marvel Fan Art Shows Henry Cavill as Wolverine Instead of Hugh Jackman
First and foremost, it’s best to establish that no one is replacing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine anytime soon.
The Deadpool & Wolverine trailer didn’t show his face, but it’s long been announced that the Logan star is reprising his role and entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the character’s classic yellow-blue suit.
Regardless, thanks to the idea of endless possibilities in the Marvel Comics-inspired universe, fans seldom shy away from pushing boundaries through their own creative works.
This while, we are looking at the artwork of Barrett.Digital (via Designco), who has imagined Henry Cavill wielding Wolverine’s claws (Yes! the claws that hilariously scared Deadpool in the recently released trailer) instead of Jackman.
In this artwork, however, Wolverine isn’t wearing the traditional bright yellow-blue suit. Instead, the Argylle star is shown to be rocking a gray-green costume.
Since DC Studios has cut ties with the Man of Steel star, his entry into the MCU can’t be ruled out. However, even in that situation, Cavill is unlikely to replace Jackman in the foreseeable future.
Hugh Jackman Doesn’t Agree With Deadpool 3’s Title
Jackman, meanwhile, has suggested a title fix for his much-hyped collaboration with Ryan Reynolds.
The Australian actor took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his preferred title for Deadpool 3, replacing Deadpool with as-hole. He shared the picture of his hilarious idea with a caption: “Fixed it.”

This is in line with playful banters and the love-hate relationship the two characters have always shared in Marvel Comics.
Meanwhile, Reynolds took a cheeky dig at Dune: Part Two‘s eccentric popcorn bucket by tweeting: “Wait till you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket.”
Expect more of the same during the marketing campaign in the run-up to the film’s release. The R-rated (a first in Marvel Studios) action comedy is scheduled to hit the theaters on 26 July.
