Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise is one of the very best in the gaming community. There is hardly any video game franchise that maintains every bit of detail from the first sequence to the last in the action-adventure genre. Nathan Drake, the protagonist of the franchise, has to overcome several evil organizations to find treasures that are unknown to the world.
Uncharted is a gold mine when it comes to the plot. So, there was no way Hollywood would let the gold mine go to waste. In 2022, a live-action Uncharted film was released, featuring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Victor Sullivan. But there was a particularly important thing missing from Wahlberg. Recently, an update revealed that he is ready to rectify his mistake in the sequel of Uncharted.
Mark Wahlberg Will Have Sullivan’s Iconic Mustache
Victor Sullivan, popularly known as Sully, is a recurring side character in the Uncharted video game franchise who is an ally to Nathan Drake. Even though he is an older character, he proves his usefulness through his resource-finding abilities. Sully helps Drake in every possible way by providing information or flying them across countries.
Sometimes, he even accompanies him on his treasure hunt. One of the crucial features of Sully’s appearance is his mustache.But in the movie, Mark Wahlberg did not have a mustache. While Tom Holland did an excellent job being Nathan Drake, the missing of the mustache seemed to have diminished Mark Wahlberg’s performance.
The fans were disappointed to see such a crucial element missing from his character. But they won’t be disappointed for long. Mark Wahlberg has revealed scripts are being made for Uncharted 2. He also revealed that he will have the mustache in part 2.
There has been no official confirmation by Sony about a sequel, but Mark Wahlberg’s comments have hinted that something is cooking behind. During the post-credit scene of Uncharted, Sully had a mustache. It had the fans lighted up to see the mustache.
Without the mustache, Wahlberg was looking more like Nathan Drake’s brother, Sam Drake, instead of Sully. The mustache adds weight to the character and makes the movie more video-game-appropriate. Uncharted had a younger version of the characters to lay down the background.
The sequel might do a better job with the characters becoming older and getting into the video game details. The post-credit scene did give a hint of a sequel happening. If it happens and Sully dons his iconic mustache, it would be a hit at first glance.

Uncharted was released on February 18, 2022, and directed by Ruben Fleisher. Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg starrer got a great response at the box office even though it received mixed reviews from the public. The movie earned more than three times its budget. Tom Holland, being an athletic guy, gracefully did the stunts to clear the doubts of the fans, who thought he might not be a good Nathan Drake.
Rather than being a good Nathan Drake, he proved himself to be a great Nathan Drake. On the other hand, Mark Wahlberg also did justice to his character, except for the mustache. Latest updates have revealed he will have the mustache in Uncharted 2.
While the release dates have not been confirmed, the script is already being made. It will be interesting to see which story Uncharted 2 will follow. More than that, the fans are eagerly waiting to see Mark Wahlberg’s Victor Sullivan in a video game-accurate mustache.
