As Helldivers 2 grows in popularity with each update, one thing that remains unchanged is the number of platforms this game is on. This game started life as a PlayStation 5 exclusive that was also released on PC. Ever since its launch, the game has seen significant growth in its number of players. But the developer Arrowhead Game Studio and publisher Sony have decided they would rather keep it away from Xbox.

The popularity of this game is such that fans who own Xbox consoles have been constantly asking the developers to bring it to their consoles too. The thing is that even if the developers want, they cannot bring this game to Xbox because only Sony can make a final call on that. Hence, Xbox owners are now looking at an exclusive of their own to fill this hole: Hellblade 2. And rumors suggest it might remain exclusive.

Hellblade 2 might never transition to Sony’s PlayStation 5 after all!

Sony PlayStation’s exclusive game has always been on point. Fans get their hands on some of the best exclusives ever made through PlayStation 5. From God of War to Spider-Man, they are well known for making some very high-quality experiences for their consoles.

Microsoft did that too at some point. They decided to make an all-around entertainment set-top box for their consoles and then lost the console wars. This happened when they announced the Xbox One consoles. They are yet to recover from that mistake to this very day.

They purchased multiple publishers for billions of dollars. They also purchased a bunch of independent developers. One of them is Ninja Theory, the developer of games like DMC: Devil May Cry and Hellblade.

Currently, Ninja Theory is hard at work on Hellblade 2, the sequel to their critically acclaimed 2017 hit, which they dubbed an Indie-AAA title. Now, they are given a chance to develop a real AAA title under the banner of Microsoft Game Studios.

This upcoming game is without a doubt looking pretty good. And going by what Phil Spencer suggested a while ago, Hellblade 2 is shaping up pretty well. This means it will launch in May without any shred of doubt.

But the question that fans are asking is: would this game see an eventual transition to PlayStation 5? This question is raised because Microsoft decided to bring a bunch of its exclusives to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice VR Edition was released in 2017.

Games like Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment have already made this transition, while Grounded and Sea of Thieves will come later. This has all the fans of Xbox worried that Microsoft might end up bringing Hellblade 2 to PlayStation 5 too.

And they would not want this to happen, given the fact that Sony has not even responded to that petition that someone started asking Helldivers 2 to be ported to Xbox. But they need not worry, as Jez Corden suggests this might not happen at all.

He says Hellblade 2 is not one of those games Microsoft would bring to the PS5. He had to respond to a tweet suggesting that a PS5 port is in the works for Hellblade 2. His reply was pretty simple too; he simply said that he can confirm that, as of right now, this is completely false.

Would it happen in the future, though?

Now Jez Corden has decided to word his reply in an interesting manner. His words, “as of right now,” means the release can happen somewhere down the line. It makes sense too; none of the games mentioned above came to other consoles at launch. Microsoft brought them out months after their initial launch.

Only the future will tell what happens to Hellblade 2. For now, Xbox fans can be hyped, as this game will launch exclusively on Xbox and PC on May 21, 2024.
