Angel is the most unique Devil in the Chainsaw Man universe. The young, slim male who embodies the fear of angels was featured in Episode 11 of the anime and Chapter 34 of the manga. He is described as “a special Devil that has no hostility to humans” but could absorb one’s lifespan by touch.

The Angel Devil is a favorite of CSM fans due to his extent of powers and unnaturally kind behavior in the deceptive world of Chainsaw Man. During his first appearance, he readily takes orders from Aki to combat the Spider Devil and Katana Devil. He is also responsible for saving many lives in the series, redeeming himself for the massacre he unknowingly committed in the past.

Angel Devil’s Tragic History In Chainsaw Man

No background about the Angel Devil was given in the manga upon his arrival as a Public Safety Devil Hunter from Division 4. Chainsaw Man only shed light on the half-angel half-devil side of the character. While his demonic side wanted humans to die in pain, the angelic side gave comfort to humans and shielded them with his radiant white wings.

Angel tagged along with Aki and both seemed to fulfill each other: Aki was generally becoming more trusting of Devils while Angel sought companionship. Unfortunately, nothing remains the same once Makima forces Aki to accept a Devil Hunter contract. Chapter 74 shows Angel Devil recollecting the incidents that happened to him and his complete story in almost five pages.

According to the Chainsaw Man manga, an injured Angel Devil was sheltered by a village community that resisted somewhere on the coast. He even fell in love with one of the villagers and planned to live there for all his life until Makima showed up. Refusing to reveal his powers, Angel tried to avoid combat but fell prey to the Control Devil powers of Makima, and later snatched the life span of every villager upon her orders.

Angel Devil might not be dead in Chainsaw Man unlike the villainous Makima

The Gun Devil’s rampage in Chainsaw Man Chapter 76 killed several hundreds of people, including Aki. Fortunately, the Angel Devil was not mentioned in the list of deaths that accompanied almost every page. There is a chance that the character appears later in the series and saves more lives alongside Denji in Part 2 of CSM.

The same cannot be said for Makima. During the final battle scene in Chapter 84, Denji uses a chainsaw that was made with Power’s blood to cut the Control Devil inside Makima and prevent it from healing. He later ate Makima’s body to erase the Control Devil from existence. However, his human form consumed the remains of the body rather than Pochita (the Chainsaw Devil), resulting in the reincarnation of the Control Devil in the form of Mayuta.

Makima is officially dead. Only the Devil that resided in her took a new life. Denji is aware of this fact and is continuously trying to influence her decision and her mind so that she doesn’t end up like Makima. After all, control means power, and Denji would hate to use his Power-loaded chainsaw to cut down the Control Devil once more.
