Ryan Reynolds’ superhero film Deadpool has become a fan favorite and enjoys a cult following. The actor played an anti-hero role in the movie, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film was directed by Tim Miller. Actress Morena Baccarin played the love interest of the Deadpool star. Their on-screen chemistry was too hot to handle on the big screens, however, the actress was less than comfortable in shooting those steamy scenes.
The actress has a steamy scene in the first Deadpool film, which took two days to complete the shoot. However, half of those scenes were deleted from the final film.
Morena Baccarin and Ryan Reynolds’ s*x scene in Deadpool took 2 days
The actor Morena Baccarin played the role of Vanessa, the girlfriend of Reynolds’ character Wade Wilson. Deadpool is full of action scenes, comedic violence, and brutal fights, however, there is a momentary s*x scene montage, which shows the duo gets intimate throughout the year.
Though they looked impeccable together in the film, the actress revealed that she did not enjoy shooting those scenes. In the scenes, they celebrated Christmas, Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, and more holidays with s*x.
Baccarin shared with TV host Conan O’Brien about her experience in filming the film she shared,
“It was really fun… minus the two days of s*x scenes, it was wonderful, the whole experience.”
“It took two days to shoot the s*x scene because I think it was us making sweet love for an entire calendar year. So it was all the holidays, you know. So we dressed differently for everyone.”
The Deadpool actress recalled that a lot of what they shot over the two days was deleted. She added,
“And I feel good about that – the part that was left out. I literally mean that was enough s*x. Like nobody needs to see more than what was in the movie!”
The actress was appreciated by fans for her excellent on-screen chemistry with the Deadpool star.
Morena Baccarin hated kissing Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool
Morena Baccarin had a difficult time filming the s*x scene, but she was even more awkward when she kissed Ryan Reynolds. She shared that it was unpleasant to kiss Reynolds with his Deadpool character mask on.
She told People magazine in 2018,
“I keep saying that kissing him in that mask is like kissing a giant latex condom. It basically just smells like rubber the entire time.”
However, Baccarin appreciated her co-star for making her feel comfortable throughout those awkward scenes. Morena Baccarin told Collider,
“[T]here’s a lot of laughing. And that stuff is always uncomfortable. But, we made the best of it. By the end of the day, you’re like ‘Okay, where do you want me, how do you-?’ You’re like spreading your legs and you’re like whatever, it’s just, you get so used to each other.”
Deadpool was a blockbuster hit and grossed $782 million worldwide against a $58 million budget. The second film released in 2018, and Deadpool 3 will release in 2024.
