Embracer plans to shut down more game studios in the coming months.

Over the past few months Embracer has been looking to either close down or sell-off a few select studios that they own and due to these shut downs and lay-offs there have already been a lot of studios to be affected by these changes to Embracer Group which has been described as a tough decision by Embracer’s CEO Lars Wingefors during the Q&A.

Since June Embracer Group has been looking towards downsizing and has so far shut down Volition the developers behind the recent Saints Row game, but they have also began to lay-off staff members from different studios like Crystal Dynamics who are mostly known for developing the Lara Croft games and has recently had to lay-off 10 staff members due to this decision from Embracer.

Due to the recent lay-offs some staff may be able to join other teams within Embracer.

For now, Embracer group does not look like they will be slowing down in these closures or lay-offs as they still intend to be closing down more studios or selling them off, and this could lead to the ultimate closure of Embracer themselves as it could result in a move that could destroy the company as a whole, but for now there is hope that they can get back on its feet and the studios that are under its supervision don’t get affected any more than they already have.
