Wargaming, the developer behind World of Tanks has announced Wargaming United, its biggest fundraising initiative to support Ukraine. All the proceeds from the initiative will go to charity to help Ukraine boost its medical and emergency services.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has impacted Wargaming since it has a studio in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Wargaming has introduced Ukraine-themed content in six of its games that are now available to buy for the players and the proceeds will directly go to United24, the official government fundraising platform of the country.
Wargaming Launches Charity Bundles To Support Ukraine
Wargaming has contributed to donations to help the civilians in Ukraine since the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The company donated one million dollars to medical assistance and equipment during the first week of the conflict and contributed 100,000 dollars to the Kakhovka disaster victims and for several other efforts.
Wargaming has now ramped up its efforts to support Ukraine with its biggest charity initiative, Wargaming United, and called all players to join it in support of helping those affected in the country. The company announced the initiative in a press release saying:
Here at Wargaming, we love war games, but we loathe real war. And this subject has been especially sensitive for us, as we have a whole studio back in Kyiv that works hard on World of Tanks and other products despite all the horrors their country is living through every day.
Wargaming further added:
We believe in the power of unity and are determined to continue our efforts. Now, we are inviting all our players to join us in support of those who have been affected by the war and launching our biggest charity project — WargamingUnited.
The new charity project will launch globally across six Wargaming titles and feature unique Ukraine-themed bundles. The games include World of Tanks, World of Tanks Blitz, World of Tanks Modern Armor, World of Warships, World of Warships: Legends, and World of Warplanes. The special in-game bundles will have customization elements designed by the artists at Wargaming Kyiv studio.
Additionally, players buying the Wargaming United bundle will receive unique in-game content as they show their support to those in Ukraine. All the proceeds from the bundle purchases will be going to United 24, Ukraine’s official government fundraising platform to help purchase “C-type ambulances that will take on the duty to save lives.” Wargaming stated:
C-type ambulances are highly specialized vehicles, equipped with the essential defibrillators, cardiac monitors, oxygen tanks, and artificial lung ventilator devices needed to keep the injured alive until they can reach an operating room. Each ambulance funded will help save hundreds of lives.
The Wargaming United bundles are available starting today, October 18, and will be available for players to purchase until November 1. Wargaming previously also showed a gesture of support for Ukraine by pausing all World of Tanks and some World of Warships ads around the globe. The company has also urged those willing to help but do not play the games can donate directly to United24.
Items in the Wargaming United bundles include a Ukrainian Tier IX fighter jet bundle for World of Warplanes, a premium Tier VIII tank, and various cosmetics for World of Tanks. World of Warships and World of Warships Legends also feature Ukrainian-themed cosmetics such as camouflages, insignia, battle and ship boosters, and more.
Wargaming has taken a hard stance on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and has engaged in fundraising efforts to help the country. The company was also in the news a while back for its exit from Russia and the firing of a developer.
Wargaming’s efforts aren’t the only ones coming from the gaming industry to support Ukraine. Renowned studio Epic Games as well as storefronts such as Humble have also raised money to help the country and its civilians.
