Roman Reigns is the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion and he has been on top of the world for well over three years now. That is why it comes as no surprise he is viewed as the biggest star in professional wrestling.

With that being said, WWE making The Tribal Chief stay at the top of the food chain for so long might just lead to another beloved WWE Superstar ending up leaving the company and perhaps the world of professional wrestling as a whole.

Sheamus, a long-time fixture in WWE, has been sidelined due to a prolonged shoulder injury. Despite his absence from WWE television, he responded to a fan who mocked his inclination for 5-star matches. Sheamus has been on hiatus, and with his WWE contract set to expire this year, there is anticipation among fans for his potential re-signing with the company.

Sheamus took to social media, asking fans if they missed the “5-star banger matches” he was known for. When a fan expressed a preference for characters and stories over in-ring matches, Sheamus responded in a way only he knew how by suggesting the fan watch soap operas if those were their primary interests.

Sheamus is poised to make a return at an intriguing juncture, considering The Brawling Brutes have essentially disbanded. Ridge Holland is forging his own path in NXT, and Pete Dunne has reunited with Tyler Bate on Friday Night SmackDown. The future plans for the Celtic Warrior upon his triumphant return to WWE television remain to be seen.

The above tweet has fueled speculation among fans, linking the 45-year-old wrestler to AEW, a promotion renowned for prioritizing high-quality matches. Additionally, discussions about his contract situation have circulated in the wrestling community, raising questions about his future plans.

Given his public commentary on certain aspects of his WWE career and expressed dissatisfaction with the booking of Roman Reigns over other talent, there is suspicion that The Celtic Warrior’s association with the Stamford-based promotion may be concluding.

During an old interview with DailyMailOnline’s Alex McCarthy and Luke Power, Sheamus commented on Roman Reigns and the Bloodline faction, highlighting the considerable storyline prominence they receive. Sheamus noted that while Reigns has made the most of his opportunities, there are other wrestlers on the roster eager for similar storytelling opportunities.

“Obviously there’s the luxury of getting all the storyline time and everything. I feel like he’s made the most of the opportunity he’s had, but I feel like there’s guys on the roster begging for that amount of time to tell their own stories and that’s one of the only things that’s going. The rest of the roster needs story time too.”

The Celtic Warrior emphasized the challenge for the rest of the roster to secure sufficient story time. Sheamus also mentioned the time constraints, citing an instance at Madison Square Garden last year where he and Austin Theory had to adapt to a shorter segment due to time overruns, acknowledging the benefits that Reigns and the Bloodline have gained from their extended storytelling opportunities.

With MSG a couple of weeks ago, they went 20 minutes over. So me and Theory had two segs which turned into three small segs on the floor, you know? So that’s tough as well to go out and do that. It’s benefited him a lot and (Paul) Heyman and the story they have to tell, all within that family and stuff.”

We’ll have to wait and see whether Sheamus will return to WWE or simply wait until his contract expires and make his way to AEW somewhere down the line.
