Watch Dogs 2 took nearly four years to sell as many units as its predecessor. Therefore, Ubisoft tried to reignite the players’ interest with a third game. The third game, Watch Dogs Legion, came out in 2020. It introduced a unique play-as-anyone feature, however, the game failed to impress the fans.

The leaker also added that, with this, Watch Dogs is “dead and buried.” User @RinoTheBouncer took to X to talk about it and added,

“Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs series is over, due to the failure of Watch Dogs Legion”

While no official confirmation has been made by Ubisoft till now, many knew that this was coming. Since Watch Dogs Legion didn’t live up to the expectations, there were rumors suggesting that the series might reach a dead end.
Back in 2022, YouTuber JorRaptor added that the Watch Dogs series may have been canceled. JorRaptor made this assumption based on the departure and reshuffling of staff members who were working with the Watch Dogs series.

Moreover, when we look back at Ubisoft cutting off patches and content updates for Watch Dogs Legion, it is very hard to not go with these rumors and leaks.

Keeping all these leaks in mind, it is doubtful that another game in the Watch Dogs series may see the light of day. While Ubisoft may shift its focus and work on other IPs, these leaks have not gone well with the fans. Many took to X and expressed their disappointment with this.

Will fans get to see a new game in the Far Cry series?

While this is a setback for Ubisoft, fans will get to see other popular titles in the near future. Among these, probably one of the most rumored Ubisoft titles is Far Cry 7. While Far Cry 6 had a mixed response, the franchise will not meet the same end as the Watch Dogs series, according to a Ubisoft leaker.

Following this, many started believing that Cillian Murphy would feature in Far Cry 7. However, J0nathan went on to clarify that this is not what he meant.

Even though the details about the game are very scarce, there are a few rumors about it. Sources at Insider Gaming state that the next installment’s story will focus on the player rescuing their wealthy family members who have been kidnapped by a group called the ‘Sons of Truth.’

The same source also adds that players will get 72 in-game hours which will be equivalent to 24 hours of real-time to reduce their whole family.
