Leonardo DiCaprio’s illustrious and lengthy career in Hollywood dates back to when he famously starred in James Cameron’s Titanic. He has become one of the most highly-paid actors in the industry and a consistent A-lister. DiCaprio’s life is far from being unlucky, as many fans would say.

Edward Norton begs to differ. He gave DiCaprio the nickname ‘Unlucky Leo’ because he has witnessed his friend get into accidents and mishaps several times in the past. Perhaps one can add his consistent Oscar snubs to the list.

Edward Norton Reveals How Terribly Unlucky Leonardo DiCaprio Is

During Edward Norton’s interview via The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he shared his long-enduring friendship with Leonardo DiCaprio and how they went on several adventures together.

Leo’s like a very old friend of mine, and our friendship’s totally based in our mutual passion for environmental advocacy and climate change work. We’ve taken a lot of trips together, to amazing places. We’ve gone diving together, and gone to see a lot of incredible natural wonders together.”

In one instance, he called his friend ‘Unlucky Leo’ because he seemed to attract bad luck. Every misfortune a person can think of probably happened to the Inception star.

We call him unlucky Leo. But you have to understand, Leo has almost had a parachute not open on him, skydiving on his birthday. He’s had a plane engine blow up on him, and my wife and I make this joke, we’re like, ‘Let’s not do adventurous things with Leo.’

DiCaprio’s unluckiness in his personal life seems to penetrate his Hollywood career as well. Fans would remember him winning his only Oscar for Best Actor in 2016 for The Revenant.

With all the critically acclaimed films he has worked on, such as Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, The Great Gatsby, and Killers of the Flower Moon, he is constantly snubbed at the Oscars.

It’s a mystery for everyone, but perhaps it’s just the timing; he would get nominated for a work, and a better performance from another actor would make it to the list.

DiCaprio has proven time and time again that he is one of the greatest actors of all time, and not even another Oscar snub would diminish his talent and people’s admiration of his work.

It was a momentous event for Leonardo DiCaprio when he finally won his first Oscar in 2016 for The Revenant. Speaking with TimeOut, he admitted not expecting to win anything.

It’s never ever what I’m thinking about when I’m making movies. There’s nothing I’ve done for the specific reason of getting an award. Every single time, you just go in there trying to bat a thousand, trying to give it your all.”

DiCaprio explained he did not like the pressure actors get once they receive an award. For him, it’s like they are being told they have to be perfect in everything they do.

The Revenant is available to stream via Netflix.
