Since the announcement of the projects slated to grace the upcoming DCU more than a year ago, James Gunn is constantly working behind the scenes to make the franchise successful. And by far, one of the biggest projects in his plan is none other than the upcoming Superman: Legacy.

While the public may now know that David Corenswet will be playing the role of the titular superhero, not too much more is known about the film in general.

But the filmmaker is among those creators who are constantly taking fans’ feedback and updating them about what’s going on with his upcoming projects, and following this attribute of his, he gave a huge update about the upcoming film. When a fan asked how much of the film would explore the origin story of Superman, the Super director said it’ll have none of his backstories.

Following this news, many people have raised their eyebrows at this decision and have surprisingly shown their support for it. Superman has been such a crucial part of pop culture and comic book culture for more than eight decades at this point everyone, young or old, knows who Clark Kent is and how he became the Symbol of Hope that we have come to know and love.

Thus, reimagining his origin story yet again would seem so repetitious that it might just become boring for the audience and, thus, create a disconnection between them and the superhero in the film.
