Although it was reasonable to assume that the Mario movie will not fail at the box office following its ties with one of the biggest gaming franchises, not many expected its enormous success. With the Chris Pratt-led movie not losing its grip on the global box office, the film has garnered another record under its belt, following its ongoing run at the theatres.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has now become the second highest-grossing animated film of all time just behind 2019’s Frozen sequel, leaving the first Frozen at the third position. Considering the movie is currently standing at $1.294B, which is around $10M more than Frozen’s $1.284B, the Pratt-led movie is now just behind the Frozen sequel’s $1.45B. And with The Super Mario Bros. Movie becoming 2023’s highest-grossing movie so far, fans have showcased their astonishment at this situation.
