With how the last season of Game of Thrones ended, several fans are concerned about the prequel series too. As per George R.R. Martin’s blogs, however, the author seems to be heavily invested in the making of the series (unlike last time) and hailed it as one of the finest.

Well, with House of the Dragon, it seems that the author is involved to quite an extent in the series. Being a writer, Martin has his own blog to take care of (alongside some unfinished books) that he updates regularly. Talking about the upcoming season of House of the Dragon, George R.R. Martin talked about how excited he is on his blog and how they “got some work done”.

“They were lively, fun discussions, and we got some good work done… though two days was not nearly enough. There is so much ground to cover that I am not sure 20 days would have been enough.”

He further wrote about how he went to see the set of House of the Dragon and he was mesmerized.

“All I have to say about that is… ohmigod! Nothing I have ever seen can compare with the Red Keep and Dragonstone sets they have built at Leavesden Studios in London. HUGE, stunning, and so damned real that I felt as if I had gone through a time portal to medieval Westeros.”

This isn’t all since George R.R. Martin also saw the first two episodes of the upcoming season and he was left mighty impressed with how the series turned out.

As his blog continued, the author talked about how he was locked up for two days with Ryan Condal in a room to talk about House of the Dragon. Talking about how he saw the rough cuts of the first two episodes of the upcoming season, George R.R. Martin has no complaints so far.

“The highlight of the trip, though, had to be the sneak preview that Ryan gave me of the first two episodes of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, season two.  (Rough cuts, of course).   Of course, I am hardly objective when talking about anything based on my own work… but I have to say, I thought both episodes were just great.”

With a thumbs-up from the writer himself, House of the Dragon Season 2 is set for a release date of Summer 2024. Having a rating of 8.5/10 on IMDB and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season of the Targaryen Civil War is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
