We had lots of fights. He’s a pain in the as* to work with. He’s horrible. He tells you before you work with him, ‘You’re gonna hate this.’ And he’s so right.

However, during the interview, Jerry Seinfeld also revealed how they eventually resolved their issues with each other. Informing fans and audiences about him and Hugh Grant bonding over dinner and booze, Seinfeld noted that any feud that might have developed through the process, on set, was immediately suppressed after they went out for dinner together.

We shot for 10 weeks, and that night that he and I had dinner — and we got drunk having dinner — that was the greatest night. Because he’s so cool and he’s that English thing, you know, that witty. He looks good in a jacket … he’s one of those guys. I love those guys.

[Grant] called us and he said, ‘I want to be in the Pop-Tart movie,’. So he did an audition on his phone — with a glass of wine in the other hand, by the way… Like I care what the audition was. I go, ‘Yeah, sure, you’re Tony the Tiger, sure.’

Regardless of how the audition went, Jerry Seinfeld mentioned that he was extremely eager to hire someone as iconic and versatile as Hugh Grant in his movie. Eventually, the actor appeared as Thurl Ravenscroft, in the film that narrates the tale about the two business rivals Kellogg’s and Post, and their competition to create a revolutionary new pastry that could change breakfast forever.
