In a new interview with British Vogue, Pitt revealed that he and Bullock pitched an idea for a film set at the home shopping network QVC over a decade ago. But unfortunately, the thought never materialized into an actual movie.

Comedy Pitch Based on Shared Disdain

Brad Pitt explained that the idea for the QVC comedy originated from a shared disdain between him and Bullock for the home shopping channel.

“Sandy and I once tried to develop a whole idea of a husband and wife team, who just [hated] each other, and they were going to host the QVC channel,” Pitt said. “That’s as far as we got.”

He joked about their pitch, saying,

“We both know the hatred for each other is so visible…and you could cut it with a knife. So we thought playing off that would be hilariously ironic.”

The idea excited the two stars, and they thought they could channel their playful chemistry into a hostile on-screen relationship.

Could Have Starred Hollywood’s Biggest Names

Even though the QVC comedy never materialized, it’s fun to imagine what the film could have looked like with Pitt and Bullock in the lead roles at the peak of their careers in the late 90s/early 2000s. In addition to showcasing the stars’ talent for comedy, the concept allowed them to tap into their natural chemistry.

Sandra Bullock and Pitt displayed easy banter and likeability together when promoting their 2022 blockbuster Bullet Train. Just imagine them channeling all that charm into an over-the-top comedy set amidst the world of home shopping. It certainly would have been an exciting departure for the two actors known for gravitas.

Why The Idea Was Likely Shelved

While the QVC comedy sounds entertaining on paper, it’s understandable why studios probably passed on the concept. Pitt explained, “It just kind of petered off when we realized we’d have to write something.” Developing a thin comedy premise into a full-length feature likely proved to be an impossible challenge.

Pitt and Bullock’s star power is so massive that it can be hit-or-miss to pair them as co-leads rather than leads. Executives were perhaps hesitant to invest in a film relying solely on the duo’s chemistry. Still, it’s a shame movie lovers missed seeing these two comedy giants team up at the height of their fame.

The inner workings of Hollywood development mean promising ideas can easily stall, even with A-list talent attached. Unfortunately, this is true for the QVC comedy Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock pitched. While the movie never manifested, their 2022 re-teaming for Bullet Train proves the two have great chemistry that deserves spotlighting. We can only hope they find another compelling comedy concept to make this co-starring opportunity a reality.
