A new item has mysteriously appeared under the Ship Module section in Helldivers 2. The “Catalogue Expansion” is a new item that, as per the description, adds “new stratagem permits to the ship management terminal for purchase.” This ship module for the bridge can be unlocked, but players have now discovered that it apparently does nothing.
Subsequently, Arrowhead released a statement on Helldivers Discord that asked players to not acquire this “rogue item” (via IGN),
“The Ministry of Truth has confirmation that a rogue item called the ‘catalog expansion’ is temporarily visible in the Ship Management menu and, in accordance with regulations, we instruct all Helldivers to avoid this rogue item until further notice. The Ministry of Truth cannot confirm the reliability or safety of this item, nor can they confirm its origin.”
While some players believe that this was just a bug, some are positive that this is just Arrowhead’s way of teasing new stratagems and ship modules that will be added to the game soon. Being one of the most popular co-op third-person shooters in the world right now, Helldivers 2 needs some updates to keep the players hooked.
Is Arrowhead planning to introduce a new faction in the game?
Over the past few weeks, multiple players reported that they saw some unusual activities on the battlefield such as flashing dots on minimaps and blue laser beams. There are speculations that Arrowhead is teasing the new faction: The Illuminate. This faction, which is returning from Helldivers, consists of different types of tentacled aliens with psychic powers.
The recent fixes to Arc Thrower, the Arc Shotgun, and the Tesla Tower stratagem also hint that Illuminate is planning its big invasion as these arc-based weapons will come in clutch when fighting off this faction on the battlefield. Helldivers 2 is available for PlayStation 5 and Windows.
