While there is no doubt to the fact that James Gunn is a talented filmmaker, fans have, time and again, blasted him for practicing nepotism. People stated that Jennifer Holland, his wife, has been unfairly cast in many projects just because of James Gunn. The filmmaker had previously defended himself and continues to do so. Recently, he stated that he’s not the only director who works with the same actors.

As we all know by now, James Gunn is pretty active on Twitter. Whether it is talking about his favorite characters or teasing his upcoming projects, he sure knows how to be the center of attention!

A Twitter user took Gunn’s side on the whole nepotism debate. They stated that while people hate the director for working with the same actors, he would do the same thing. Why? Well, simply because it feels like a universe of its own!

Gunn responded by namedropping directors who do the same. The list included Preston Sturges, Clint Eastwood, Martin Scorsese, Robert Altman, and Quentin Tarantino. He also stated that he also works with the same crew.

However, Gunn made it clear that by “reusing actors,” he is not putting a barricade between him and new talent. He stated that “it’s not one or the other” with him. It has been months since Gunn got the title of the head of the Studios. Still, people are having a hard time putting their trust in his universe. Only Superman: Legacy can save Gunn now!

A couple of months back, another Twitter user put Gunn on blast and demanded that he stop putting his wife in every DC project. Gunn, who is never one to shy away from responding, stated that he was only responsible for his wife’s casting in The Suicide Squad. He added that he was deeply involved in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 at the time of casting and that people just need a reason to hate.

After the tweet, Gunn received a lot of support from his fans, one of which was David Ayer, the director of Suicide Squad. He stated that people will always take “cheap shots” but “positivity and creation” will always be the winner. He also added that Gunn has the hardest job in Hollywood at the moment and that he is going to make it look effortless!
