Before their highly publicized divorce, popular pair Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston also had a very public relationship. They reportedly started dating in 1998 and were constantly seen in public. They got married in a private ceremony in 2000. However, the actors soon announced their split after five years and subsequently applied for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.

While the duo was reported to have issues in the marriage, one of the biggest reasons for their split was cited to be the affair between Pitt and his Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie. The duo apparently fell in love on the sets of the film and Jolie even mentioned publicly that she used to look forward to coming to work every day because of Pitt. These statements were allegedly not taken well by Aniston, who condemned the way Jolie and Pitt handled the issue.

In an interview with Vogue, Jennifer Aniston spoke about the statements made by Jolie and how she was hurt by them as they seemed to have been made when Aniston and Pitt were married,

“There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening. I felt those details were a little inappropriate to discuss. That stuff about how she couldn’t wait to get to work every day? That was really uncool.”

Pitt and Jolie finally acknowledged their relationship and dated for a while before finally getting married in 2014. However, soon after, the two filed for divorce

Years after their messy divorce, actors Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt seemed to have reconciled and have reportedly been in touch with each other. Pitt went through a divorce from Angelina Jolie, while Aniston went through a divorce from her former husband Justin Theroux.

According to a source from US Weekly, Pitt attended Aniston’s 50th birthday party and even reached out to her when her mother passed away in 2016. The source said,

“Brad contacted Jen after her mom died, and she was touched that he knew what a difficult time it was…Brad wishes he’d handled the end of their marriage in a more thoughtful manner…He asked for Jen’s forgiveness a long time ago, and she gave it”

Aniston once stated in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, where she implied that she did not want to hold grudges.

“I think it’s extremely important to forgive. Otherwise, it just builds up like toxic waste. There’s nothing worse than holding a grudge. Listen, people can do unforgivable things, but you have to let it go and say, ‘Look, we’re all human beings. We make mistakes.’”

After years, the two finally seemed to have reconciled.
