One of the best parts about the original Helldivers was the mechs, so it’s no surprise they’ve returned to Helldivers 2. With their incredibly mighty weapons, they add more chaos to the game’s already chaotic battles. Once you’re inside one, you’re guaranteed some degree of safety and a lot of firepower to decimate anyone who dares to stand in your way.

Since they’re incredibly popular, many players in the community want to see more exosuits in the game. Having the ability to blast through anything without any sort of resistance is quite fun. However, Arrowhead hasn’t given players an update on the upcoming exosuits in the game. This has frustrated many in the community, who wonder why they haven’t expanded upon mechs in the game. However, it seems like we finally know why Arrowhead isn’t keen on adding more exosuits to the game.

A Second Mech Might Completely Ruin Helldivers 2 Meta

Mechs are a jack of all trades in Helldivers, allowing you to quickly hop in and use a combination of heavy machine guns and rockets to take down Terminids and Automatons. However, we haven’t received any word from the studio about upcoming Mechs. Back in February, we saw quite a few leaks revealing brand-new mechs. However, these haven’t made their way into the game yet, leaving players frustrated and wondering why Arrowhead isn’t releasing more mechs into the game.

Well, it’s clear why Arrowhead doesn’t want a second mech in the game; it can prove quite powerful. Although mechs have their downsides, a second one will be lethal if players start running one mech dry and instantly call another. Arrowhead doesn’t want a meta that’s completely dominated by players using mechs.

Currently, there’s only one mech in the game, the EXO-45 Patriot. It’s a simple weapon but extremely lethal in what it does. Players can use it twice a mission, but it comes with a ten-minute cooldown between each use. This specific Mech is also equipped with a rocket launcher capable of delivering 14 shots and a gun of 1000 shots. The former is amazing for taking down heavy targets like Charger or Hulk, while the latter excels at demolishing smaller units.

However, if the developers add another mech in the future, they can easily balance things out to not let them dominate. Players can have multiple mechs, with cooldowns between using each of them, or they can be forced to have only one mech on their list at a time.

What Other Mech Variants Can Be Added to Helldivers 2?

While Arrowhead hasn’t stated anything regarding the future of mechs in the game, these exosuits have a lot of potential. Based on the original Helldivers game, two additional Mech Variants would be perfect for Helldivers 2.

The first one is the Obsidian Exosuit, which comes with two 20mm autocannons. This is an excellent suit for eliminating low and medium-armored enemies. However, it would struggle against heavy armor. Given how popular the autocannon support is in Helldivers 2, this exosuit will likely be a popular choice.

The other exosuit from the original game that might be added is the Lumberer. This particular mech comes with a powerful 90mm cannon and a flamethrower. It was originally designed to eliminate heavy targets while keeping the flamethrower for smaller units. This suit will also likely be a popular choice since we’ve already received buffs for fire damage and flamethrowers in Helldivers 2.

The possibilities for the mechs in the game are endless, and it truly depends on how far Arrowhead wants to go with them. However, due to their sheer power and effectiveness, it might take a while before Arrowhead figures out a way to add more mechs to the game without breaking the meta.
