The developers of Sony’s Helldivers 2 have finally decided to give fans what they have been asking for ever since the game’s release last month. Adding to the already vast arsenal, Arrowhead Studios has finally given fans exosuits, or mechs to help them in their mission to liberate the galaxy.
Unfortunately, the gameplay of these mechs has caused the game to receive some critique online, pointing out how the feature seems to be way less powerful than it claims and needs to be.
Why Are The New Exosuits In Helldivers 2 Receiving Criticism Online?
Criticism revolving around these mechs has started surfacing on the internet, such as this post from IGN, stating how the mechs are way weaker than they need to be. Calling out the latest addition, the critique mentioned
“If you get swarmed while in the mech, you’ll get ripped to shreds immediately. Think of it more as a glass cannon than a tank”
Officially termed as the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuits, Mechs were one of the most anticipated features that fans have been asking for ever since the game’s release last month. Seizing the opportunity, developers moved swiftly to develop these mecha exosuits, but it seems like they might have gone overboard in an attempt to properly balance the feature.
It is also quite possible that the developers bore in mind the history revolving around the mechs in the gaming industry when they were curating the exosuits. What we are talking about is the horrible implementation of the Battle Mech Suits back in Fortnite Season X, which left the player base in shambles at the time.
How To Access The New Exosuits In Sony’s Helldivers 2
While underpowered, the new mechs are still a pretty awesome and fun weapon to operate. And finally, after the completion of the recent major order to liberate Tien Kwan, players have been granted the ability to call down the patriot exosuit once per mission for free.
However, if you are level 25 or above, you can purchase the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit as a Stratagem, enabling the player to call it twice on a mission. However, the player would need to face a cooldown of 10 minutes before they can finally call the exosuit again in their fight to spread democracy.
Regardless of the underwhelming power, the addition of exosuits stands as a testament to the studio’s dedication to providing fans with the best experience one could ask for. While this statement might be undermined by the recent incident of developers’ irresponsible behavior with the community, the swift addition of mechs to the game tells another story.
Helldivers 2 is available to purchase on Steam.
