X-Men ’97 has had massive success among the Marvel fans. The animated series, which is a revival and continuation of the ’90s X-Men show, has generated immense hype. However, it has also attracted very strong criticism regarding the character of Rogue. The fans did not appreciate how the show pulled off some insane de-sexualization of the curvaceous figure of Rogue.
Since the first trailer dropped, many fans who found their first love in Rogue in the 90s complained on the internet that her physique was drastically changed in the new animation. In some scenes, Rogue’s butt looked extremely flat. However, the Rogue voice actress, Lenore Zann, seems to have found the perfect way to address the criticism by paying homage to the iconic “America’s Ass.”
How did Lenore Zann address the criticisms of Rogue in X-Men ’97?
Rogue was created as a charming and flirtatious mutant in the OG X-Men: The Animated Series. It was important for the animators to give her an attractive look. However, in a specific scene where she confronted the villainous Apocalypse, she faced an attack, fell, and displayed a physique that took over the fans in no time.
The representation of Rogue’s behind in this specific scene became a massive point of debate when the fans compared it to the present design of the character in X-Men ’97. Interestingly, the Rogue voice actress Lenore Zann found the perfect opportunity to address the online debate after the latest episode of the ongoing series featured a cameo of Captain America.
‘America’s Ass’ has been one of the most hilarious lines in the MCU. Soon after Avengers: Endgame, Chris Evans became, literally, the butt of the joke due to his perfect butt. Lenore Zann shared an artwork by Butcher Billy on her X profile and stated, “Revenge is definitely sweeter when there’s a l’il ‘Sugah’ to go with that spice! Who be callin’ me flat-ass now, huh?!”
Ooo-La-La …. Touché!!
Let’s spice up them rules, why don’t we? #roguerules
ThanX @TheButcherBilly – you’ve done it again – SUGAHHHH!! 🔥🔥

The specific scene and dialogue in the artwork are inspired by the confrontation between Captain America and Rogue in the latest episode. In a badass moment, Rogue throws away Steve Rogers’ shield when he decides to go by the books and refuses to help the mutant despite chasing the same foes.
However, the fans were more surprised to see how the artwork featured Steve Rogers exactly the way Rogue was featured with her voluptuous body during her fight against Apocalypse in the OG series.
Some fans want Chris Evans to see Lenore Zann’s post
The fans are elated and took over the internet to appreciate Lenore Zann’s humor in her latest post. She even tagged Captain America’s voice actor Josh Keaton in the post and urged him not to take it personally – “Sorry Josh Keaton Sugah – nothin’ personal! Jest a li’l ol’ debt that needed repayin’. (If ya know, ya know)”
Nonetheless, some fans want our OG Captain America Chris Evans to react to this. After all, it was his hilarious dialogue – “That really is America’s ass” during the Captain America vs Captain America face-off scene in Avengers: Endgame that originated it.
We need Chris Evans to see this

Now, it remains to be seen if we get any chance to witness Chris Evans react to the iconic reference by Lenore Zann. On the other hand, we have seen in the current episode how Captain America and Rogue are after the same people, so it will be interesting to see if they cross paths again somewhere in the show.
X-Men ’97 can be streamed on Disney+ with a new episode released every Wednesday.
