Jeremy Renner recently revealed that Robert Downey Jr. was one of the earliest people who got in touch with him after his snowplow accident. The two co-actors played central roles in the MCU. However, if Renner is to be believed, then the Iron Man fame pushed him to recover soon for a very devious reason- the Mayor of Kingstown.
Jeremy Renner shocked several fans last year when he faced a near-fatal snowplowing accident. He suffered critical injuries due to the accident and concerned several fans and close ones about his health. During this time, many co-stars also extended their support and good wishes to him for a speedy recovery. Even though Robert Downey Jr. was also one of them, it looks like his intentions were not solely based on Renner’s health.
Was Robert Downey Jr. more concerned about the Mayor of Kingstown?

In a recent interview with People, Jeremy Renner admitted that Robert Downey Jr. was quick to contact him as soon as he was admitted to the ICU. The Hawkeye fame joked that they had “really great chats on FaceTime” as if they were dating. He added that Downey Jr. often joked about several other things to divert his attention from the immense pain.
“He’s like, ‘Dude, the most important thing is you look good. I don’t care how you feel, as long as you look good that’s all that matters.’”
However, if The Hurt Locker actor’s words are believed, Robert Downey Jr. also wanted him to recover fast for a very devious reason. Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey are great fans of Renner’s Mayor of Kingstown and the Oppenheimer actor wanted to see what happens ahead in the show. Although it sounds a bit mischievous, Jeremy Renner found the act very heartwarming.
“He’s like, ‘You’ve got to get back to do Mayor [of Kingstown] because we need to see what happens’. His ways are very heartwarming.”
Jeremy Renner was run over by the heavy snowplow and ended up with blunt chest trauma and 30 broken bones. Besides Robert Downey Jr., several MCU and non-MCU actors like Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Josh Brolin, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, and many others also extended their support to the actor.
Robert Downey Jr. earns praise from Jon Favreau
Robert Downey Jr. is also known for his friendly attitude with his co-stars and co-workers. Jon Favreau, who has been one of his earliest collaborators and directed his Iron Man and its sequel praised that the actor always keeps his connections even after stopping to work together.
“He’s still connecting. He really keeps relationships going, and he’s always checking in and always keeps those channels of communication and those relationships open.”
Jon Favreau also added that he learned a lot about building connections from the MCU fame. Numerous fans and other stars came together to congratulate Robert Downey Jr. on his first Oscar win. The actor had been nominated twice before for his roles in Chaplin and Tropic Thunder but lost both of them. His latest win alongside the majority of the Oppenheimer team delighted the fans this awards season.
Following his Christopher Nolan blockbuster, the Sherlock Holmes actor has expressed interest in doing a remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s cult-classic thriller Vertigo. Although many fans are doubtful as none of Hitchcock’s remakes have performed well to date, Downey Jr. believes he can do it better.
