Throughout a career that’s extended beyond three decades, Johnny Depp has portrayed numerous eccentric characters. This can be attributed in part to his enduring partnership with the uniquely peculiar director Tim Burton, which led to his embodiment of diverse roles such as Willy Wonka and Sweeney Todd. However, Marlon Brando could be the reason why Depp has become so picky about his projects.
Throughout his career, Johnny Depp’s project selection has been characterized by his affinity for portraying unconventional and varied characters, often in partnership with visionary directors. Marlon Brando’s Advise Made Johnny Depp Think
During the ASU Origins Project discussion, Johnny Depp recounted a conversation he shared with his mentor, Marlon Brando. When Depp mentioned his involvement in two or three films annually, Marlon Brando advised him that it was excessive.
Brando told Depp (via ASU Now):
“We only have so many faces in our pocket.”
Despite his assurance that he possessed numerous unexplored facets, Depp admitted that he stumbled into acting accidentally. He remained uncertain if it was the correct path.
Johnny Depp expressed his sense of unease, explaining that he believes he still has many unexplored facets due to his unconventional nature. He likened himself to a chest of drawers containing various “faces,” but he also acknowledged the potential lack of healthiness in this perspective.
Depp said:
“Unfortunately, because of my madness I feel like there’s a lot of faces left in my pocket. If you think of yourself as a chest of drawers, they’re all in there. And that’s not healthy.”
Maybe that’s the reason why do not see much of Johnny Depp on the silver screen. The actor has become more conscious about his choices.
Johnny Depp Blamed Himself For Breakup With Kate Moss
Johnny Depp has been romantically linked to numerous well-known figures, including Winona Ryder, Vanessa Paradis, and DC star Amber Heard. In an interview with Hello! Magazine, he conveyed a sense of remorse for not persevering in their relationship and took accountability for its dissolution.
Depp told Hello! Magazine:

I’m the one who has to take responsibility for what happened—I was difficult to get on with, I let my work get in the way, and I didn’t give her the attention I should have.”
Kate Moss shared her deep sense of devastation following her separation from Johnny Depp, as she had regarded him as someone who would provide long-term care and support in her life.
