Sydney Sweeney’s career trajectory has been one of the most vividly versatile in Hollywood. Starting by guest starring in shows like Pretty Little Liars, and The Handmaid’s Tale, and moving to better projects like Euphoria and The White Lotus, she has become one of the most talented actresses in the industry.
So much so, that she was cast in the role of Julia Carpenter alongside Dakota Johnson in the new Sony-Marvel film, Madame Web.
While the film was not one of the best to come out of the billion-dollar franchise, being criticized on several different aspects, Sweeney has come out of it in quite a positive light. Finding an entirely new demographic of people as her fans, the actress is in the middle of a huge fanbase of people who are thirsting after her.
So much so, that when she shared pictures of herself behind the scenes on the Marvel project, fans could not help but get infuriated at how little she appeared in the film.
Sydney Sweeney Shares Behind The Scenes Pictures
While Madame Web has not been able to establish itself as a strong film compared to all of the past Sony-Marvel projects, there has been a lot of conversation around this film and not all are criticizing it. Amid these, as a form of promoting her film, Sydney Sweeney shared a series of behind-the-scenes pictures on her Instagram account.
These included the actress in many different settings; wearing her suit, hanging off cables on set, hanging out with her castmates, and even wearing Madame Web merchandise. Although these pictures may have been an innocent attempt by the actress to promote her film, fans have become outraged online.
Fans Are Infuriated At Marvel
Many Marvel fans went online to complain about the amount of screen time Sydney Sweeney got in Madame Web. A very evident theme can be seen when it comes to the way the actress is being treated by specific fans online. Being overtly sexualized to the point that she is being treated as nothing but an object for the male gaze. Unfortunately, these pictures were not spared from this behavior.

Many fans were upset that Sweeney should have been given more time on screen and in her suit, while some others were putting forth other complaints. Many believed that her potential as an actress was wasted in the film, and she should have been called up for a more important film, like Avengers: Secret Wars.
