Joaquin Phoenix rose to stardom playing dark and unconventional roles in a number of movies. His recent star as the Joker in Joker was undoubtedly one of the best roleplays ever performed in the industry also winning an Oscar for it. Receiving immense praise for his role, the actor will be reprising his role for a sequel in 2024.
Phoenix is well-versed in theatres and also had his first big appearance in a TV series, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in 1982. He has been in the industry ever since performing small roles here and there. The actor recalled that during his early days, many actors would take the limelight but one of them was very consistent.

Joaquin Phoenix has been on the trend for quite a while, ever since his movie 2019 movie his fan following and online presence had increased rapidly. During his early days in the industry, the actor had a very hard time coping with the rapidly ever-growing industry. Moreover, a blunder he made during his initial days could have ended both his Hollywood career and dream. Well, nothing of that sort happened and Phoenix has been holding on to the industry for a big break, even though the actor had multiple note-worthy appearances, they were quickly forgotten. Every time he had an opportunity to shine, it was either taken over or was outshone by someone else.
During his SAG Award acceptance speech, Joaquin Phoenix recalled that he would always be second to some exceptional talents in the industry, he continued to add that it was mostly the Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio.
“There would always be like two other guys that I was up against, and we’d always lose to this one kid. No actor would ever say his name, like every casting director would say: [whispering] ‘It’s Leonardo, it’s Leonardo.’.
He went on to add that he has looked up to the actor and his work thought-out his days in the industry.
You’ve been an inspiration for over 25 years to me and so many people — I thank you very, very, very much. You never turn in a bad performance. It’s infuriating. I wish you would, just one time, just suck once, OK?”
Well, it is quite true that DiCaprio is a generational talent, it is also true that Phoenix’s recent performance has awarded him with great praise, worthy of standing next to his inspiration.
Joaquin Phoenix is Ready for 2024’s Joker: Folie à Deux
After the major commercial hit of Joker, the movie earned a massive $1 billion at the box office with a mere budget of $55 million. The movie was also highly rated and is also ranked as one of the best movies to date. Phoenix won an Academy Award for his exceptional performance with the movie winning many other awards such as the Academy Award, the BAFTA Awards, Critics Choice Awards, the Golden Globe, and the Grammys, and even holds a Guinness World Record.
According to recent reports, a sequel is also in production and many leaked photographs of the shoot have been released on social media. But the crazy thing about the whole thing is that there was more than one Joker on set, many are suggesting that the franchise will merge multiple Joker’s for a major grand finale. Nothing is written in pen and paper so we have to wait till any official confirmation is made from the studio.
