Season 5 will Revolve Around the Mysteries of the Upside Down
Following Maya Hawke’s description of the finale being equivalent to “making 8 movies”, which suggests that fans are in for an extraordinary conclusion, CBR informed the possibility of the finale unraveling the mysteries of the Upside Down. After the Duffer Brothers delved deeper into the supernatural forces at play, it seems only obvious for them to finally clear out the suspense about the parallel universe.
The idea of the Upside Down has been teased from the very beginning of the show, but it was only after season 3 when Stranger Things exposed how the eerie universe mirrors the human world, almost looking identical to Hawkins. Therefore, now, with the show finally coming to its end with Season 5, fans can supposedly expect concrete answers about the Upside Down.
The only thing we don’t delve into in [Season 4] volume 2 is Upside Down lore. We hint at it. I’m sure someone on Reddit will be able to maybe piece it together, but a lot of those answers for the Upside Down, or that is really what the basis of Season 5 is about. Ross Duffer stated.
