In recent years, the iconic actor Johnny Depp has gone through significantly rough times. Despite numerous alleged accusations and speculations about his character, a moment during a Pirates of the Caribbean filming incident revealed his heart of gold. The A-lister couldn’t stand by when his body double didn’t receive medical attention even for a minor injury, and refused to work until and unless he got one.

Johnny Depp Was Furious About This on a Pirates of the Caribbean Set
Even though the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise propelled Johnny Depp to fame, it demanded him to undertake numerous challenging stunts. Thus while filming Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, there were specific stunts that required assistance from a body double, Tony Angelotti. During one scene, Angelotti therefore recounted a particular incident to Metro, highlighting the actor’s true compassion. He said,
“I do remember one time where I saw [Depp] extremely angry,–And it was when we were filming the blacksmith forge fight, and I was fighting Orlando Bloom, and Johnny’s sitting over by the camera watching.”
He then continued stating,
“The fights, they’ll get really intense and fast,–And Orlando, I think, got lost at one point and went to another direction, and I ducked back, and the tip of his blade caught right near my eyebrow. I was okay, it was literally like a nick. A hair closer would have left at a decent mark. Johnny got up out of his chair, walked right over to this guy, and said, ‘We’re not doing a f–king thing until he gets looked at by the medic,”
Angelotti then narrated,
“You could have heard a pin drop on that set. And it was like, “Thank you, Johnny!” And of course, the medic was there in a split second and it was fine […] That’s the rare occasion that I saw him, he blew a gasket.”
Angelotti along with others was also taken aback to witness the actor, who generally resides in the calmer realm of emotions, engulfed in rage.
Johnny Depp Is Extremely Close With His Body Double!
Johnny Depp likes to create a comfortable atmosphere among the cast and crew he works with. Thus his approach creates a unique sense of camaraderie, making everyone involved feel like an integral part of a close-knit family. “I would have beautiful wine with him at the end of the night in his trailer, he would invite me in a couple times. I can remember having beautiful Bordeaux and just sort of recapping the day and just talking about the stunts and things to come”
In addition to that the following anecdote also showcases how the two share an exceptionally tight bond. As the actor once enlisted celebrity jeweler Neil Lane to craft a personalized replica of the Ring of Thieves from the franchise for the stuntman once their filming concluded.
