The fight for democracy is in full swing in Helldivers 2, as players go head-to-head against the alien bug Terminids and Automatons to save humanity. The galactic battle is more than just a fight between the aliens and players, as gamemaster Joel has been pulling strings to some extent since the beginning of the game.

It now seems like Joel is up to something again that would bring a brand-new enemy and increase the challenges players face during the battle. Players think Joel is looking to bring one scary enemy from the last game to Helldivers 2 soon.

Helldivers 2 is filled with giant enemies, but it seems like there’s more coming to the game. A player posted a picture on X/Twitter in which they are standing next to what seems like a fossil of a massive alien insect and closely resembles a giant sandworm, exclaiming, “What are you hiding, Joel?”

Several players said that they had also come across such fossils but didn’t think anyone noticed. A player said that they have been seeing these bones very frequently and wondered if they were of the Terminids, but since they do not have bones, what could these be? Another player added that this is also one of the references to the original game.

Players have discovered that these fossils are of the Hive Lord boss from the first game, and Helldivers 2 could bring them back sometime. This enemy has terrorized players in the original game as it is very dangerous for players to go against, amazingly hard to defeat, and even makes underground tunnels for bug hives so that they spawn near players.

One player said that one of the biggest major orders that Helldivers 2 will have is the one with an event with gamemaster Joel as the “automaton mastermind.” The player let their wild imaginations run further and added that Joel would try to take over Super Earth.

They further said that players would have to go against him and they would lose at first after Joel attacks Super Earth, but Helldivers would somehow win.

Could the Fossils Be Another Enemy Faction?

Some players said that they have come across these bones very often, and since they don’t look like the Terminids, another factor might be coming. A player said that the next faction could be bugs, but nothing like the Terminids.

Players have recently come across incidents that suggest the Illuminate faction is already in the game, and some think that a new faction may also be on the way. However, it’s just speculation as of now, and nothing can be said for certain until Arrowhead reveals something or at least drops a hint.

A few players speculate that the recent tremors felt in the game could be a subtle hint from the developer that the Hive Lord is coming to the game as a new type of alien bug, Terminids.
